MINI Motability

MINI Motability

15 April 2021

The Motability scheme has been successfully running since 1977, and now has over 650,000 participants, all using it to enhance their quality of life, stay mobile, and open up new horizons. There have been over three million cars, scooters, and powered wheelchairs made available over the lifetime of the scheme, and it gets better with each year running.

It’s available to those who are permanently receiving one of the following allowances, and with at least 12 months award length remaining:

Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disabled Living Allowance (DLA)
Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

If you’re unsure as to whether you qualify, you can either talk to one of our professional team, or check with the online tool.

MINI Offers

No, that’s not mini offers (something small), but MINI offers … great new deals that are available as part of the Motability scheme, on all MINI cars.

Take the MINI Cooper Electric SE for example – available for the first time on Motability, and with just a £249 Advance Payment for a Level 1, or £1249 for a Level 2, and £2249 for a Level 3. Or you could choose the MINI Hatch (3-door or 5) with no advance payment.

But wait, there’s more great MINI offers … a £500 cashback offer, available exclusively to MINI participants. (Contact us for full details)

And of course, everything is included with Motability – lease, insurance, servicing, maintenance, and breakdowns, all taken directly from the allowance.

MINI Cooper Electric

Top Gear magazine describe the MINI as “The world’s most desirable small car”, and surely, with electric power, that can only mean it’s even more desirable?

As with any MINI, it’s super agile (despite carrying the electrical weight), and that’s partly down to the low centre of gravity (lower than the regular MINI, despite being a touch taller), and the simple 182hp electric motor driving the front wheels.

A burst of instant torque is ideal for city driving (where the MINI really shines), and despite having the batteries and electric motor attached, it still has 211 litres of load space in the rear – same as the standard version, thanks to clever engineering.

MINI say that the Cooper SE Electric has a range of between 124 – 144 miles, although some well-known trade magazines have found that it’s usually a little more, but with an 80% recharge capable of happening in just 35 minutes, you can be safe in the knowledge that you won’t be held up anywhere.

The Motability scheme is a great way to discover trouble-free motoring, everything about it has been designed for ease, and that’s why MINI fits so well – small but perfectly formed.
