Branch-off Point Safety Recall

DO YOU OWN A BMW 5 SERIES (E60 & E61 VARIANTS) OR A 6 SERIES (E63 & E64 VARIANTS) BUILT BETWEEN JANUARY 2003 AND JULY 2010?

If you do then it’s likely that your car is included in the recently announced safety recall by BMW that requires the above mentioned variants to be checked for corrosion/damage to what is commonly known as the “branch-off point”.

Your BMW’s battery is located in the luggage compartment from where the positive battery cable goes to a separation point under the luggage compartment floor, this separation point is commonly known as the “branch-off point”.

It has been determined that over time the separation point can be adversely affected by factors such asvibration, dampness, salt corrosion etc. andin these instances the vehicles electrical system can experience a voltage supply fault that will lead to various vehicle systems malfunctions including non-starts.

In the case where damage from extreme heat has occurred, a possibility of a fire in the luggage compartment as well as a vehicle fire, even if the vehicle is parked, cannot be completely excluded.

we would like to assure local owners of e60, e61, e63 and e64 models that their vehicles are in perfect working order by checking the branch off point and where necessary completing a reworking of the connection point as determined by our checks.

The safety recall check and any corrective work required will of course be completed free of charge.
