All aboard! Yeovil Motor Company is all a-boat conserving the local environment

We had a fantastic time last week and even though the weather affected plans, it was great to see the multi-award winning Volvo XC40 and XC60 looking stunning at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for the Volvo Gill Optimist Championships.

Yeovil Motor Company is inviting local people to join its team on Tuesday 30 July for an evening of local conservation at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, to celebrate The Optimist British National & Open Championships.

Competing across three classes, the regatta will take place in Portland from Saturday 27 July through to Friday 2 August, and the waterways clean-up aims to ensure the local area is conserved and protected throughout this activity. It is the first time a clean-up has been organised in conjunction with the championships.

The clean-up will begin at 4pm in the boat park, and will be followed by an exclusive Q&A session with the sailors competing in the championships.

Alan Woodland, General Manager at Yeovil Motor Company, said: “The team and I are all so excited to be hosting our waterways clean-up event.”

“This activity aligns perfectly with Volvo’s commitment as a brand to approach sustainability through the lens of “omtanke”; a Swedish word that means ‘to think again’. We are encouraging the community to think again about how important it is to care for our natural surroundings.

“The welfare of our local environment and wildlife is really important to us, so we’re hoping to see lots of people attending the event and helping us to make the coastline an even more beautiful and safe place to visit.”

We look forward to seeing everyone there.
