We tend to find that vehicle buyers typically fall in to one of two camps; those that buy a vehicle because it fits with their lifestyle, and those that purchase purely on safety ratings. But why should they have to make that choice?
The new T-Cross from Volkswagen fits in the ‘small crossover’ category, a category that’s traditionally been overlooked when it comes to safety and equipment. That isn’t to say that the smaller categories aren’t safe, just that by purchasing one of their bigger siblings, the equipment and safety list also get … bigger.
However, Volkswagen have decided that regardless of where the vehicle fits within the family, it should still offer a level of safety which is near unrivalled by the competition. As Volkswagen so eloquently put it: Vehicle safety is no longer about vehicle category.
The Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) rates cars on their safety, the highest any car can achieve is five stars, which indicates: “Overall good performance in crash protection. Well equipped with robust crash avoidance technology”.
And that’s exactly what you’re getting with the T-Cross.
Standard safety equipment and features include Front Assist area monitoring system which includes Pedestrian Monitoring, City Emergency Braking System, Lane Assist, Hill Start Assist, and a proactive occupant protection system that can automatically close all windows and sunroof, tension the seat belts and build up brake pressure when it detects the risk of an accident.
Wait, we’re not done yet … also included is Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Monitor and the associated Rear Traffic Alert system. If you still feel the need for further driver aids, there’s options for a Driver Alert System, Park Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. Phew.
The T-Cross scored an unbeaten (in class) score of 97% in the ‘Adult Occupant Protection’ category, which means of course, an almost perfect five star rating for safety and crash protection.
And when you ally that to the legend that is Volkswagen reliability, and a design that’s both functional and stylish, there really isn’t much in the way of competition when it comes to small crossovers.
If a smaller SUV fits your lifestyle, you can be safe in the knowledge that the T-Cross will deliver everything you want, without any compromise on safety, toys or driver aids. Better still, the T-Cross has a veritable host of different options, both inside & out, so your new T-Cross can be as individual as you. This really could be all things to all people.
