Motability with Volkswagen

Motability is a government backed scheme that enables anyone in receipt of the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the Armed Forces Independence Payment or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement to lease a brand new vehicle, be that a car, wheelchair accessible vehicle, powered wheelchair or scooter.

It’s the easy, hassle-free way of gaining back your freedom and independence, without the worry of insurance (for up to three named drivers), Vehicle Excise Duty (road tax), servicing & maintenance, it also includes breakdown cover, windscreen repair & replacement and tyre damage. It truly is ‘hassle-free’. Just add fuel.

How Much Does It Cost?

Essentially, there are three different rates when it comes to Motability. Some vehicles cost less than your weekly mobility allowance, while other vehicles cost the same as the allowance, but if you want to really push the boat out, you can choose to opt in for the Advance Payment scheme; a sum of money paid in advance to cover you for something a little more special.

All options work in the same way – the money is paid directly by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to Motability, thereby eliminating any further worries or complications, it really couldn’t be simpler. And if you do want the Advance Payment option, you’ll be pleased to hear that around a quarter of the Motability dealers can take your old (privately owned) car as a trade in.

And don’t think that options must be limited; Motability can offer you everything from small or medium cars, through to family, estate, 4x4, SUV, coupes, roadsters and cabriolets.

Volkswagen Motability

Motability is all about freedom, and that’s demonstrated with their choice of brands and manufacturers, one of the popular ones being Volkswagen.

Through the scheme, it’s possible to choose from a vast array of your favourite VWs: Up!, Polo, T-Cross, Caddy Life, T-Roc, Caddy Maxi Life, Golf, Golf SV, Golf Estate, Touran, Tiguan, Passat (both Saloon & Estate), Transporter Shuttle, Sharan, and the Tiguan Allspace. Phew.

So whether you need something that’s capable of carrying everything you need to enjoy a day out, something that zips around town, or munches motorway miles, there’s a choice that’s just right for you. And of course, all the new Volkswagens are fitted with the latest safety technology, clean engines, and digital tech.

Applying

The process of application to the Motability scheme is straightforward, but we’d always recommend to pop in and see our Motability specialist to understand what cars are available, how they suit your budget, and to get a better understanding of how dealing with a professional team can make your life just that little bit easier.

The whole point of Motability is just that – making your life easier, giving you freedom, and being hassle-free. Why not let us make the process hassle-free from start (choosing the right vehicle) to finish (driving away from the showroom)?
