Introducing the Land Rover Defender

Featuring our toughest materials yet and tested to its very limits. Defender has been designed for optimum durability. In addition to the exhaustive simulation and rig testing, we’ve driven Defender 1.2 million kilometres, and completed more than 45,000 individual tests to ensure that it is the toughest Land Rover ever made.

As part of the monocoque architecture the Defender not only is truly impressive in strength, but also in composure. Unique architecture makes Defender our strongest and most robust family of vehicles yet. On a suspension level it is built to withstand more impact. Defender features suspension adjustment of up to 195mm, as part of the vehicle's outstanding geometry.

Exterior durability has also been taken in to careful consideration. A Satin Protective Film can be applied to the vehicle’s tough exterior. This can protect the paint from scratches and delivers a rich, Satin finish.

Defender durability

Capable by nature. Defender can handle extreme terrains and confidently takes you from the urban jungle, to shifting sands and icy environments. And unrivalled purpose. The Defender has been engineered so you can dream bigger. Push harder. Go above and beyond.

The Defender’s ability to wade up to a depth of 900mm makes water crossings possible.4 The Wade Program in Terrain Response raises the vehicle using Electronic Air Suspension. Wade Sensing visually indicates how close you are to the maximum wading depth of Defender.

Looking for a vehicle that can tow? Respond to the toughest of demands with Defender’s 3,500kg towing capacity. When specified, Advanced Tow Assist also allows you to reverse a trailer while Defender takes care of the counter steering.

Defender capability

This is design with undoubted integrity. One look at that reassuringly recognisable silhouette, and you know this is anything but ordinary. Short front and rear overhangs improve its geometry and capability. The round headlights are instantly recognisable as Defender, characterful and perfectly proportioned. Helping bathe the cabin in light the alpine lights are not only a nod to the past but add to the vehicle’s personality.

In-Car Technology

Equipped for 21st century adventures, our most intuitive technologies to date ensure convenience, connectivity and visibility.

The new Defender features ClearSight Ground View1 available as a part of the 3D Surround Camera system which allows you to effectively see ‘through’ Defender’s bonnet. It displays multiple exterior views, including the vehicle’s underside and wheels. So no matter where you drive, you can feel at ease.

No need to worry about equipment or tall passengers blocking your vision, ClearSight interior rear view mirror uses a live video feed to ensure that you always enjoy an unobstructed view.2

On an infotainment front the Defender presents you with a 10” Touchscreen that’s personal. Defender's Pivi Pro system features an at-a-glance layout that enables you to carry out frequent tasks and use commonly accessed features on the home screen. You can easily customise the layout and add additional information or features.
