ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
Location: Westerly Bridgwater
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday

An opportunity has arisen to join our BMW accounts team based at Westerly Bridgwater BMW and Mini.
The role:
You will support both the Franchise Accountant and Dealership accountant in the accurate and timely preparation of financial and management information by maintaining all transactional ledgers to a high standard.
You will maintain the transactional ledgers for the Bridgwater branch as follows:
Bank
- To post and reconcile the bank statements on a daily basis
- To report to when overdraft is above £100,000
Sales Ledgers
- Daily banking as required, including posting to the system
- Credit control, notifying departmental managers of problematical debts on a timely basis
- Raising of miscellaneous invoices for intercompany recharges
- Dealing with payments on account/unallocated balances
- Management of credit account applications
- Production of sales ledger statements
- Tightly monitor higher risk accounts eg vehicle sales, warranty and cash debtors
- Dealing with any queries arising relating to the sales ledger
Purchase Ledgers
- Scan and input purchase ledger invoices/credits on a daily basis
- Posting of cheque payments
- Supplier statement reconciliations including month end BMW reconciliation
- Demonstrator funding account reconciliation
- Payment of suppliers through monthly payment run
- Reconcile/post petty cash and to count floats periodically
- Address payments on account/missing invoices
- Dealing with any queries arising relating to the purchase ledger
Other duties will include:
- Providing cover and support for processing on transactional ledgers at other Westerly dealerships
- Preparation of nominal ledger reconciliations
- Assisting Operational managers and their staff with day-to-day transactional queries
- Support continuous improvement and support the application of good management controls, reporting and consistency in place, particularly for all financial areas.
The person:
Minimum essential requirements for applications to be considered are:
- Experience of working within a busy accounts team, having already mastered all aspects of sales ledger, purchase ledger and bank reconciliation
- AAT qualified or demonstrable experience at this level
- Good inter-personal and communication skills
- Flexible, willing, “can do” approach. Keen to undertake a challenge and enjoy problem solving
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel
The perfect applicant will have the following (note: desirable, not essential):
- Motor trade experience
- Experience of using Kerridge motor trade accounting software
- Driving licence and prepared to drive to other group dealerships occasionally
- Some experience of nominal ledger reconciliation
