An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join our growing Shared Services finance team based at Exeter Jaguar Land Rover, serving several group dealerships. The successful candidate will have the privilege of joining with the team in our brand new state of the art Jaguar Land Rover dealership which opened at the end of July 2018.

The role:

Working as part of the management accounts team you will support the Accountants through a variety of tasks, both routine and ad-hoc, including:

  1. Undertaking nominal ledger reconciliations
  2. Preparing aspects of the management accounts to trial balance stage
  3. Assisting with working capital management and reporting
  4. Provide support to the Sales and Purchase Ledger teams with complex issues and when cover is required. This may involve some time supervising a more junior member of staff.
  5. Assist with reporting to dealership management, Head Office and to the manufacturer
  6. Undertake project work as specified from time-to-time
  7. Occasionally assist and provide cover at other group dealerships
  8. Help to identify and implement process improvements
  9. Check and promote adherence to group processes and policies

Working within our shared services team will give you with a platform to learn and develop and provides a structure for progression within the team and wider group.

The person:

Minimum essential requirements for applications to be considered are:

  1. Experience of working within a busy accounts team, having already mastered all aspects of sales ledger, purchase ledger and bank reconciliation
  2. AAT qualified or above or demonstrable experience at this level
  3. Good inter-personal and communication skills
  4. Flexible, willing, “can do” approach. Keen to undertake a challenge and enjoy problem solving
  5. Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel
  6. Driving licence and prepared to drive to other group dealerships occasionally

The perfect applicant will have the following (note: desirable, not essential):

  1. Some experience of nominal ledger reconciliation and management accounting
  2. Ambition to learn and progress
  3. Motor trade experience
  4. Experience of using Kerridge motor trade accounting software
