An opportunity has arisen to join our BMW accounts team based at Westerly Bridgwater BMW and Mini.

The role:

You will support both the Franchise Accountant and Dealership accountant in the accurate and timely preparation of financial and management information by maintaining all transactional ledgers to a high standard.

You will maintain the transactional ledgers for the Bridgwater branch as follows:


  1. To post and reconcile the bank statements on a daily basis
  2. To report to when overdraft is above £100,000
  3. Sales Ledgers
  4. Daily banking as required, including posting to the system
  5. Credit control, notifying departmental managers of problematical debts on a timely basis
  6. Raising of miscellaneous invoices for intercompany recharges
  7. Dealing with payments on account/unallocated balances
  8. Management of credit account applications
  9. Production of sales ledger statements
  10. Tightly monitor higher risk accounts eg vehicle sales, warranty and cash debtors
  11. Dealing with any queries arising relating to the sales ledger

    Purchase Ledgers

    1. Scan and input purchase ledger invoices/credits on a daily basis
    2. Posting of cheque payments
    3. Supplier statement reconciliations including month end BMW reconciliation
    4. Demonstrator funding account reconciliation
    5. Payment of suppliers through monthly payment run
    6. Reconcile/post petty cash and to count floats periodically
    7. Address payments on account/missing invoices
    8. Dealing with any queries arising relating to the purchase ledger

    Other duties will include:

    1. Providing cover and support for processing on transactional ledgers at other Westerly dealerships
    2. Preparation of nominal ledger reconciliations
    3. Assisting Operational managers and their staff with day-to-day transactional queries
    4. Support continuous improvement and support the application of good management controls, reporting and consistency in place, particularly for all financial areas.

    The person:

    Minimum essential requirements for applications to be considered are:

    1. Experience of working within a busy accounts team, having already mastered all aspects of sales ledger, purchase ledger and bank reconciliation
    2. AAT qualified or demonstrable experience at this level
    3. Good inter-personal and communication skills
    4. Flexible, willing, “can do” approach. Keen to undertake a challenge and enjoy problem solving
    5. Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel

    The perfect applicant will have the following (note: desirable, not essential):

    1. Motor trade experience
    2. Experience of using Kerridge motor trade accounting software
    3. Driving licence and prepared to drive to other group dealerships occasionally
    4. Some experience of nominal ledger reconciliation
