Helston Garages are delighted to announce further expansion of their group with the acquisition of three prestigious businesses in Truro Cornwall.

Helston Garages has agreed the purchase of the Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo dealerships in Truro from Riders Garages Group, another long standing Cornish business.

Group Managing Director Andy Barrett commented: “I have been involved in a number of acquisitions for Helston Garages but this one is definitely the most satisfying.  We are privileged to be able to buy three good businesses from Riders that represent such great brands as Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo.  Most importantly though it has given us the opportunity to expand and further establish ourselves in Cornwall.  We are a Cornish Company with over 50 years of history, I am a Cornishman and it is a definite part of our strategy that we continue to invest and grow in this county”.

Helston Garages Group is privately owned by Mr and Mrs Carr.  The company started from humble beginnings over fifty years ago with a single garage in Helston Cornwall.  It now has 35 dealerships, all in the south west, representing 12 franchises.  Prior to this acquisition they already operate a number of Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo businesses in Devon and Somerset. 

Asked about future plans for the new businesses Andy Barrett replied: “It’s simple.  We know that for any business to be successful it needs a consistently high level of customer service based on customer care and honesty.  This is what we will strive to do and is one of the reasons I am pleased to announce that we have retained the services of all the existing staff and management currently employed at the dealerships”.

The new companies will trade as Carrs Jaguar, Carrs Land Rover and Truro Motor Company and will continue to operate from the existing premises at Threemilestone and Moresk Road.
