From the distinctive slatted front grille to the integrated rear spoiler, the design of the Maserati GranTurismo makes it an exuberant combination of assertiveness and grace. Every aspect of the car has been engineered for both beauty and performance.
The GranTurismo, GranTurismo S and GranTurismo S Automatic benefit from a drag coefficient of just 0.33. The 4.2-litre V8 engine of the standard model offers drivers a top speed of 177mph and acceleration of 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds, while the 4.7-litre motor of the S (Sport) version betters this with a maximum speed of 183mph and 0-62mph acceleration of 4.9 seconds.
The superb poise of the range is partially due to its transaxle system, which puts the six-speed manual or automatic gearbox in the rear of the vehicle with the differential. This gives the GranTurismo a front-rear weight distribution of 47%-53%, making it unique in its class and adding to stability and performance.
The top-of-the-range MC Stradale model succeeds in the extremely tough task of improving on the performance of the other cars in the GranTurismo range. Modifications to the bodywork and an even more powerful engine providing 450bhp mean that the Stradale can deliver a top speed of 187mph and 0-62mph acceleration in 4.6 seconds.
