The new Ferrari 599 GTO is officially Ferrari’s fastest-ever road car, having rounded Ferrari’s private circuit at Fiorano in just one minute, 24 seconds. Modelled on the manufacturer’s 599 XX racing car, the GTO can reach speeds of 208mph and go from a standing start to 62mph in 3.35 seconds.

The outstanding performance is down to the lightweight composition and sheer power of the 599 GTO’s engine. With the car weighing just 1,495kg and the V12 Berlinetta engine providing 670bhp, the impressive statistics of speed and acceleration are hardly a surprise. The high revs (up to 8,250rpm) and lightweight components of the engine only add to the speed and responsiveness of the drive.

Some of the world’s most sophisticated automotive technology has been utilised to make driving the 599 GTO not only thrilling, but effortless and pleasurable too. Steering wheel input has been increased to improve lateral acceleration, meaning that manoeuvring around bends is not a problem.
