BMW Servicing FAQs

1. How often should I get my car serviced?
BMW uses an advanced system called Condition Based Servicing (CBS), rather than using set mileages as a guide to required maintenance.

CBS was first introduced with the BMW 7 Series, and all current models are equipped with this technology.

CBS employs sensors to monitor the condition of worn parts and to assess if servicing is needed. A microchip in the vehicle's remote control in the key saves the data, along with other general information such as the odometer reading and the vehicle identification number. This information is then downloaded by BMW Service using a “Key Reader” device. This system allows each service to be tailored to the requirements of each and every BMW.

2. Why should I get my car serviced at a BMW Dealer?
At a BMW Dealer, you can be sure that the technician working on your car has undergone official BMW training which involves following strict procedures. We’ll also only use Genuine BMW Parts for any necessary repairs.

3. What are the benefits of using BMW original parts?
A lot of careful consideration goes into creating a BMW car, which is typically made up of around 20,000 parts. By using only BMW original parts when it comes to repairs, you can be sure each part will fit seamlessly and keep your BMW running to the same exacting standards. All Genuine BMW Parts also come with a two-year warranty.

4. Do I have to get my car serviced by a main dealer?
We recommend you visit a BMW Dealer as they specialise in caring only for BMW models, so you can be sure they’ll know yours inside out. It’s also important to check your warranty details as using a different dealer could affect your rights.
