BMW M Series vehicles are modified, extra-sporty versions of the normal range of cars developed by the manufacturer’s subsidiary, BMW M-Technik. This special research and development arm of the business was founded in 1972 to create new technologies for BMW race cars, but over time has also lent a hand in the creation of experimental models.

BMW’s policy of fusing its racing expertise with the design of certain road cars has produced a number of class-leading vehicles. The 1 Series M Coupé, for example, is acknowledged as the market leader among all of its competitors. Increased power, but with stability and traction, are the watchwords of the M Series.

The entire range is extensively tested for both performance and safety at the company’s private facility at the world-famous Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany. All makes of BMW apart from the 7 Series are available in an M version.
