Helston Garages was founded in 1960 by Mr & Mrs Carr Snr, as a filling station and repairs workshop located in the small Cornish town of the same name. In the beginning, the business dealt in and serviced Austin, MG, and Morris cars.

A period of expansion started when Helston was bought by the Carrs’ son and daughter-in-law, Mr & Mrs Carr, in 1975. Helston’s first acquisition was a Renault dealership in Taunton; in the years since, the story for Helston has been one of continuous but stable growth.

Today the group is one of the 25 largest in Britain, and its 37 franchise dealerships provide customers throughout Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset with high-quality new and used cars and vans from thirteen different manufacturers (as well as servicing facilities for three more brands). Helston Motor Group is very proud of its history and is determined to retain the principles of honest dealing, customer service and staff welfare that are responsible for its 51 years of success.
